Compiled by Alf Arnold in 1981. Tidied and re-presented for your reading pleasure.
There is little doubt in my mind that Albert Crimes and John Arnold were spectacularly good athletes. In the 1950s they produced some outstanding performances on three wheels, several times exceeding the then record times for those on two wheels.
At some time in the 1990s, I was able to obtain a copy of these memoirs. Most of the content was written by Alf Arnold, who was John's brother. Certain parts are marked up as contributions from others, typically Jock Wadley or Peter Barlow.
The original manuscripts were produced on a typewriter, and I suspect that my copies are photocopies of photocopies of photocopies. Consequently, there has been quite a lot of tidying and straightening done, along with some minor edits for clarity.
