29 October 1990 : 25 miles
The course was on the A12, between Galleywood and
Colchester.
I desperately wanted to have a try at the 25 record
before the season finished, and took a chance on 29th October, with only
a mediocre weather forecast.
The winds turned out, as predicted, to be modest.
I was chasing a time of 50.00 set only days earlier
by Dave Pitt. Dave's ride
had been done with light wind, and was obviously a superb performance.
Unfortunately, despite having slightly better conditions than he
had, I wasn't up to the job, and recorded 52.32.
Bill Thorncroft and Alan Deuters dealt with the
timing, and John Purser drove my car.
