When looking at Land's End to London in 2008, I was keen that we should
do the ride
ahead of the weather front, as a WSW wind typically
changes to WNW in situations like that shown below.
It looked like we would do the ride fractionally behind the front.
But then the revised chart arrived. As can be seen below, the
front was now expected to be behind us all the way, so the winds weren't
going to be overly helpful (although there would definitely be some
help).
It feels slightly unlucky, because with Land's End to London we had the
exact opposite. We wanted to be ahead of the front, but it came
through early.
Thus for each ride, we had conditions better suited to the other one.
